For this project I assisted Sarah Ellen coordinate The Autumn Trend Edit for David Jones. We went to a farm three hours west of Sydney to capture the changing seasons and looks for the David Jones blog.

Copping Out Fast Fashion in Wellington, New Zealand

For my university film I chose to focus on the negative impacts of fast fashion. Two owners of vintage clothing shops in Wellington, New Zealand share their perspectives on style, fashion, and sustainability.

As New Zealand lays on the bottom of the world, oceans away from neighboring countries — Importing and exporting goods has a sizable carbon and economic footprint. The New Zealand way paved itself as self-reliant, adventurous, and resourceful. This has no absence in their shopping habits. Shopping second hand has formed a niche in Wellington culture for these reasons.

This video explores vintage shopping in a creative light while contrasting systematic issues of the fast fashion industry.
